Established in 2016, Shell's New Energies division is focused on new fuels for transport and power, aiming to make electricity a crucial part of its business. Now, the company announced that it has agreed to acquire 100% of the German manufacturers of smart residential storage systems, the sonnen Group.
Both companies expect benefits from the merger: sonnen expects greater growth in sales of smart energy solutions to households that want more self-sufficiency, and Shell aims to integrate more clean energy products into its portfolio.
