Munich/Pforzheim, April 18, 2023 – Europe’s largest and most international exhibition for batteries and energy storage systems reaches new record numbers: Compared to last year, ees Europe is to double in size, boasting an enormous growth. More than 500 exhibitors will present their innovations across five exhibition halls plus an outdoor exhibition area, a total of over 45,000 square meters. An extensive accompanying program that consists of conferences, forums and side events is attracting an audience from all around the world – including manufacturers, suppliers, factory planners, installers and project developers. ees Europe is part of The smarter E Europe and will take place alongside Intersolar Europe, Power2Drive Europe and EM-Power Europe from June 14 to 16, 2023, at Messe München. 85,000 visitors in total from 160 countries are expected. ees Europe thus offers the perfect opportunity to network with the industry’s visionaries and decision makers and to gain insights into the latest trends, technologies and projects.

Keeping up with the times at the ees Europe Conference
From senior manager, executive to decision maker: On June 13 and 14, the ees Europe Conference puts the spotlight on the latest developments and trends while also providing a global networking platform for the decision makers of the industry. This includes expert discussions on the use of artificial intelligence, in search of an answer to the question “hype or actually useful?”. It will also feature the panel discussion The Proposed New EU Electricity Market Design and Its Impact on Energy Storage Market, in which representatives of the European Union, utility companies, IPPs and providers of energy storage solutions will debate the impact of the planned EU electricity market design for the energy storage market.
ees Forum: keeping track of the latest technologies
The ees Forum (hall C2, booth C2.131) will provide visitors a large variety of topics – from battery markets to technologies and best practice applications. For example, the finalists of the ees AWARD and the The smarter E AWARD will present their projects and innovations on the first day of the exhibition. Afterwards, experts will discuss the European energy storage markets as well as the latest technological trends, with a main focus on Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The International Battery & Energy Storage Alliance (IBESA) and the German Solar Association (BSW-Solar) are partners of the ees Forum.
Visitors will also get insights into the latest survey results, for instance, from the study “Potentials for large-scale storage systems in Europe” (“Potenziale für Großspeicher in Europa”), which was conducted in collaboration with Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE). The forum program will include sessions on the topic “Energy security and price stability of commercial storage systems” (“Energiesicherheit und Preisstabilität von Gewerbespeichern”) in addition to panel discussions between market leaders, such as the managing directors of E3/DC, SENEC, sonnen and HPS Home Power Solutions AG on whether battery-based or hydrogen-based home storage systems will take the lead, among other topics.
Battery Fab Manager Day & Battery Day Europe: The battery production of tomorrow
“The demand for cheaper, better and more batteries poses a great challenge for suppliers of machines and equipment. When it comes to their cost, raw material consumption, energy consumption and size, the systems need to be efficient in order to maximize the production rate”, Jörg Schütrumpf, German Mechanical Engineering Industry Association (VDMA), states.
What does the battery production of tomorrow look like? The “Battery Fab Manager Day” will investigate this matter at the ees Forum. The event is sponsored by strong partners – the Chair of Production Engineering of E-Mobility Components (PEM) of the RWTH Aachen University and by the VDMA.
Battery Day Europe, a cooperation with InterBattery, South Korea’s leading battery exhibition, will also invite planners and decision makers of battery factories. It will take place on the first two exhibition days at the InterBattery Showcase (hall C3, booth C3.670) and present the potentials of a collaboration between the South Korean and European battery industries.
Green Hydrogen Forum
The Green Hydrogen Forum is well established in the industry by now, and this year it will be taking place for the third time. Today, it is a central meeting point for industry representatives of the entire supply chain and illustrates the enormous vitality of the market: By 2030, the EU member states, Norway and the UK want to expand their electrolysis capacity from today’s 143 megawatts (MW) to 138 gigawatts (GW). Spain is currently leading in the planned deployment of over 74 GW – almost 25 GW are in preparation. The country is followed by the Netherlands (10 GW) and Germany (7 GW). “More than half of the electrolyzer capacity planned for 2030 is to be generated by photovoltaics, which means the Green Hydrogen Forum is the place to be – representatives of the hydrogen industry will meet representatives of the solar industry”, Olivier Bucheli of the European Fuel Cell Forum (EFCF) says.
