Bonn/Munich, June 1, 2017: As part of the project “Utilities and the Energy Transition” EuPD Research analyzed the entirety of the nearly 1.300 German utility companies. During the „Smart Renewable Energy Forum“ at Intersolar Europe the best among these utilities were awarded with the „Energy Transition Award“ for their outstanding portfolio of products, services and information.
After nine months of preparation, research and the analysis of all nearly 1.300 utility companies active in Germany, today the award ceremony for the best utility companies in Germany regarding their commitment to the energy transition took place. The globally leading solar trade fair Intersolar Europe was the host of the event. As part of the “Smart Renewable Energy Forum” the awards were officially handed to the winners.
This year’s award ceremony was opened by Markus Elsässer, CEO of Solar Promotion GmbH, who outlined the 26 year long history of Intersolar Europe. He stressed the importance of utility companies in the new energy age. Markus A.W. Hoehner, CEO of EuPD Research, as the host for the awarding of the “Energy Awards” introduced the quality model for the “Utilities in the Energy Transition” – the foundation of the award. “The Energy Transition presents the biggest challenge in their entire company history to all the utilities. We are honored to award those among them who already reached a strong position in the Energy Transition with their products, services and information offers,” Hoehner states.
Utility companies form an important link between technology providers for the Energy Transition and the customers – comprising private households as well as companies. The impact of the Energy Transition is felt most strongly among the utility companies, more than in any other field. They are facing the challenge to adapt their energy market know-how and their existing connections to the end customers and they have to actively shape the changes the energy markets are undergoing.
The award initiators Intersolare Europe, DCTI Deutsches CleanTech Institut and EuPD Research are happy to announce the 2017 winners of the “Energy Transition Awards” for utilities in the categories Electricity, Heating, Mobility, Energy Efficiency and Energy Transition:
