Call for Innovations in Energy and Mobility: Application Period for The smarter E AWARD in Five Categories Starts Now

Press Release – November 30, 2023

Munich/Pforzheim, November 30, 2023 – The smarter E AWARD moves into the next round and has been completely revamped. From December 1, 2023, companies will have the chance to submit their innovations or projects and compete for The smarter E AWARD – for the first time in five categories (Outstanding Projects, Photovoltaics, Energy Storage, E-Mobility and Smart Integrated Energy). The smarter E AWARD thus unites the renowned The smarter E AWARD, Intersolar AWARD, ees AWARD, Power2Drive AWARD and EM-Power AWARD. All applications must be submitted by March 15, 2024.

From 2024, The smarter E AWARD will be presented in five categories.

As we move towards a renewable 24/7 energy supply, the electricity, heat and transport sectors are continuing to grow together. This is causing many market participants – from technology and solution providers to utility companies and municipal utilities – to rethink their approach. Companies are adapting their business models and an increasing number of them is starting to offer integrated solutions with PV modules, storage systems, EV-chargers, power-to-heat systems and energy management software.

It is not just the industry sectors that are taking an integrated approach, but also the renowned industry awards presented at The smarter E Europe: The smarter E AWARD will therefore be awarded in five award categories, uniting the previous The smarter E AWARD, Intersolar AWARD, ees AWARD, Power2Drive AWARD and EM-Power AWARD.

The award categories of The smarter E AWARD

Companies can submit their innovations or projects in the following five award categories to compete for The smarter E AWARD:

  • Outstanding Projects: Whether sector coupling, decentralized energy systems or applications in the areas of PV, storage systems, hydrogen, power grid or mobility – The smarter E AWARD in the Outstanding Projects category recognizes outstanding projects and products that have been integrated into a global renewable energy project. Its implementation must be fully completed between February 2022 and February 2024.
  • Photovoltaics: In the Photovoltaics category, The smarter E AWARD honors innovations in the solar industry – from solar cells and modules to PV components, mounting and tracking systems, and production technologies.
  • Energy Storage: Energy storage systems are key to a renewable 24/7 energy supply. For this reason, The smarter E AWARD in the Energy Storage category recognizes the most advanced innovations in the storage industry – be it energy storage technology, components or battery production technologies.
  • E-Mobility: In this award category, The smarter E AWARD honors industry innovations whose concepts and technologies make an important contribution to a successful mobility transition. The focus is on innovations in charging infrastructure, intelligent charging solutions, e-vehicles, mobility services or traction batteries.
  • Smart Integrated Energy: The smarter E AWARD for Smart Integrated Energy recognizes technologies and services supporting the efficient distribution and use of renewable energies, intelligent energy management for smart grids as well as the integration of prosumers, e-mobility and power-to-heat into a holistic energy system. It focuses primarily on grid infrastructure, energy services and operator models.
