The order of the Iberdrola subsidiary in the UK includes a lithium-ion battery storage system as well as Ingeteam’s control systems and power converters.
The storage project, which is the biggest system of Scottish Power Renewables, will provide back-up for an on-shore wind farm at Whitelee near Glasgow and has a capacity of 50 million Wh. It’s expected to start in late 2020, with further testing due to ensure compliance with the UK electric system operator TSO grid code. It will be manufactured in the newly opened Bizkaia plant.
