BlueSky Energy Sets up Production Line of Saltwater Batteries in Central Europe

Industry News – Tuesday, April 28, 2020

Austria-based storage manufacturer BlueSky Energy will bring its production line back to Europe, partially in reaction to supply chain effects of the corona crisis. The production will tenfold, starting in 2021.

Local production sites offer the advantages of creating local jobs and shortening transport times in contrast to the current Chinese production. Additionally, BlueSky Energy wants to bring the Know-How about battery technology to Europe. The final decision about the location of the new production line will be made in June 2020, focusing on Austria or Bavaria.

“The corona pandemic has encouraged us to manufacture our cells regionally in order to avoid supply bottlenecks,” explains BlueSky Managing Director Dr. Thomas Krausse.

To answer increasing demand for its GREENROCK saltwater batteries, the production will be driven up to 30,000 battery stacks per year, sufficing for 7,500 solar power storage units for private households.
