The session will introduce the ees Island Challenge 2026 promoted by European Space Agency ESA and German Solar Association BSW: At the ees Island Challenge 2026, the Moon becomes a testing ground for the energy supply of tomorrow and for settlements on the Moon. Teams from RWTH Aachen University, the Helmholtz Institute Berlin, and the University of Potsdam are participating in the challenge 2026. The goal is to develop innovative solutions for a resilient and sustainable energy supply on islands-and this year, even on the Moon.
