Bettina studied Metallurgy and Materials Engineering at RWTH Aachen University, where she specialized in the metallurgy of non-ferrous metals. After completing her doctorate, she worked in strategy consulting as well as in the aluminum industry, and most recently in the steel industry at thyssenkrupp Steel in Duisburg. She remained there for over 15 years, working in strategy, procurement, and ultimately in the decarbonization team, where she led hydrogen-related topics.
With the founding of the Saarland Hydrogen Agency in May 2023, she returned to her home region of Saarland and took over as Managing Director of the agency, building it into an established player within the national hydrogen landscape. As the central point of contact for all hydrogen-related matters, the agency is responsible for education, public acceptance, networking, information, and technical advisory services.
