Islands are strategic accelerators for the 100% renewable transition, driving energy security and economic resilience amidst climate and geopolitical crises. The session will deep dive energy storage and grids as key enablers for high-RES penetration and broad electrification. Integrating distributed and utility-scale BESS with LDES and smart grid architecture in a systemic nexus approach, islands can be powerful models for full decarbonization. An expert panel will address structural regulatory and financial bottlenecks to unlock bankable, scalable island transitions.
